FLUFFin’ it up

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments on my Citron!  I’ve been fully shawl-motivated and managed to get another completed.

I loved the simplicity of this pattern, and the bfls make it super cozy.  FLUFF fibers is totally addicting and the colorways are amazing, not to mention the 2 great ladies behind it all are the nicest around.  If you’re a spinner and haven’t checked them out, for shame!

A sKNITches shop update is on the menu for this week, more on that soon.  And more projects to come.  Some fiber on the wheel, still plugging away on Saroyan, and a little quilting in the works!

I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, though the handspun distracts the pattern a little Just an fyi, the pattern calls for 470yds but mine ended up using around 550yds.  Luckily I had the Zen Yarn fiber already spun in a pretty similar weight and pinky color, so I did the ruffle in that.

a new hobby

stash-detail

I know, I needed another hobby like a hole in the head.  But when we first moved into our new place this past summer, I innocently thought I’d try my hand at making curtains for us.

After endless hours of fabric hunting on etsy, is it really a surprise that a bit of fabric stashing started going on? (by the way, I still haven’t made the curtains…)

After drooling over the amazing talent pool out there, specifically here, here and here, I began dreaming of wonderful colorful quilts!  Where to begin?  I thought a coin quilt seemed simple enough.

Of course in my mind, you can’t make a quilt without a good amount of variety—must buy fabric.

Stay tuned and see if I ever figure out what the heck I’m doing, and if not knowing stops me from buying more fabric (yeah, sure).

shawl lovin’

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome back!  I hope you’ve all had a terrific start to 2010.  I’ve got lots of projects on my mind for this year, right now it’s all about shawls.

In a moment of possible insanity I’ve signed up for a Rav group called 10 Shawls in 2010.  Now so far I’ve only knit 2 shawls ever, but I figured what the heck, even if I don’t knit 10 I’ll get a lot of experience, and there are so many amazing shawls out there!

So here are the beginnings of #1 and #2:  This is Citron, courtesy of the latest Knitty,  done in my own handspun singles!

And I’ve just cast on for Saroyan too (startitis, anyone?) I’m working this one up in my own Lofty worsted yarn.  What I loved about this one besides the super cute leafy edging, is it only takes 2 skeins!

So what are your knitting goals for the new year?

a new start

Welcome to my new blog!

This year will be filled with lots of knitting, spinning, fiber and yarn dyeing, and even sewing!  Hope you’ll cheer me on and see what’s created.
